Meet Dina!
I am a licensed professional counselor associate in the Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas area. Prior to becoming a therapist, my educational journey began in the field of nutrition and functional medicine, where I learned to heal chronic illnesses by identifying and addressing their root causes, particularly through nutrition and lifestyle practices. I witnessed how our bodies try to communicate with us through the voice of addiction, anxiety, depression, disordered eating and chronic illnesses like PCOS. These symptoms are merely messages informing us about how our environment and our way of being are affecting the inherent wisdom of our bodies. Though our symptoms may seem uncomfortable, undesirable, and maladaptive, our body is adapting perfectly to the mental, physical, spiritual, and sociocultural conditions we have been subjected to during our life.
This inspired me to pursue further education at the Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine, where I earned a Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling and Behavioral Medicine. In my practice, I embrace a holistic approach to wellbeing, with a particular passion for the interconnected roles that nutrition, psychology, and our relationships play in our overall health.
My approach to psychotherapy is deeply relational, and informed by psychoanalytic psychology and existential therapy. I see therapy as this sacred space where we realize our innermost desires and contend with our greatest fears, all in the company of someone trained in undoing the aloneness of our suffering. We’ll bring clarity to where you feel stuck, helping us understand the true nature of your dis-ease or inner conflict. My intention for you is transformation that addresses the root cause, not a superficial shift through forced, temporary behavioral changes or an endless search for new coping skills. I will expand your understanding of yourself–both as an individual and in relation to others–guiding you toward freedom by nurturing your capacity to take responsibility for your life.
